Wilhelm Stentzel was born before 27 October 1782 in the Burnetsfield Patent, Tryon, New York, United States (now German Flatts, Herkimer, New York). He was baptized on this date in the Reformed Protestant Dutch Church. He was the son of Nicolas Stentzel and Margretha Featherly. He passed away in 1857. He served as a private in the 39th Regiment (Howell's), New York Militia during the War of 1812. [1]
