Biography

This Joshua Stanton (or Staunton), born at Stonington, Connecticut, was a son of Hannah (Randall) & Joshua Stanton.

Note: The birth year of this person is not certain. Baldwin lists it as 1747, but the Breed Family Association records state 1752. The later date is more plausible based on marriage date of his parents, 10 November 1748.

He married Susannah Breed [1]. They had 5, perhaps 6 children:

  1. Susanna (Stanton) Lull (1775-1873); married Timothy Lull
  2. Anna Nancy (Stanton) Pease (1778-); married Nathaniel Robert Pease
  3. Joshua Stanton (1782-1856); married Roxanna Day
  4. Hannah (Stanton) Green (1785-1838)
  5. John Stanton (14 Jan 1789 - 23 Feb 1812)
  6. James Stanton (1794-abt.1883); married Lucia Stebbins

Joshua & Susannah lived in Stonington until at least four of their children were born. They moved to South Wilbraham, Massachusetts.

Joshua preached some but was never ordained. He was Baptist.

Joshua Staunton died 20 Dec 1834 at Monson, Massachusetts. His grave is in Old Hampden Cemetery, Hampden, Hampden County, Massachusetts, USA [2].
