Taken from Newspapers.com, The Monroe Journal (Monroeville, Alabama) 03/21/1935: Obituary - Mrs. Irene Stanton Smith, wife of Mr. Jim Smith died at her home in Mexia. She had been a resident of Mexia all of her life. Surviving are her husband, four sons, Clyde, Clifton, Calvin and Franklin, one daughter Mae Belle, all of Mexia. Her mother, Mrs. Alice Stanton, five brothers, one sister, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held and interment was in the Mexia Cemetery.
