No hard data to support assertion he is James' son, however it is very probable. According to the 1871 census, John was 71. His being born in 1800 fits nicely to James' second marriage in 1798. Also there were no other Stantons known to be in the East Ferry/ Tiddville area at the time. Children match the 1838 census. The boys all raised families in the East Ferry/ Tiddville area. Recorded on page 11 of 1838 census. He is a fishermam, married with two boys and a girl under 6 and one more of each under 14. Neighbours are Luke Tarrio and Jacob Woodman Sr. Descendants of Benjamin, Sarah, John, William, and Raymond did not intermarry. A Family record at the Digby Library has John marrying Mary Smith on 17 Nov 1823. This fits with the John and Mary we find living with William in 1871.
