Hi and greetings from Michigan (upper peninsula)! If any of the records I manage are bringing any confusion to your family line, I will be happy to make them a priority. I just joined the site in October 2016 (last month) and have been tidying up my GEDCOM import, aside from a few other issues. I'm obviously going to have to do quite a bit of work on the Hedrick family line and I'm glad you have drawn my attention to it.

I did a GEDmatch genetic comparison between our 2 numbers. The default test failed, but when I set the tolerances to half that, it found a weak genetic match between us. To me, it's enough to validate these distant ties in our family histories.

thank you for the spotting the duplicate records Hedrick-1093 and Hedrick-1085. I thought Hedrick-1085 was removed from my MyHeritage site before upload to GEDCOM. This highly suspicious record was inserted automatically as a result of the one free "SmartMatch" import offered me when I first joined the site. This record immediately caught my eye as unlikely, and made me regret this "convenience". I no doubt need to carefully inspect the Hedrick line for other such records. My father has researched this line (on my mother's side) and made the "SmartMatch" totally unnecessary.

Hey Scott! It looks as if everything is fine for the Kilbourne merges. You will want to make sure of the last name before merging. One is Kilbourne, the other is Kilbourn. The final ID should be the correct LNAB so you should double check that your merge is in the correct direction. Otherwise, you're good to go! - Summer

HI, I see you are working on merges, you may want to review Merging FAQs to understand your responsibilities in doing merges. Remember, after the merge you will want to clean up the text. During a merge, the text from the merged-away profile is simply appended onto the end of the text of the merged-into profile. You will want to integrate it into a single biography and a single sources section. Thanks so much for helping improve Wikitree! If you have any questions, just let me know.

PS you can find the profiles you merged by looking at your contributions. We appreciate your help in improving Wikitree profiles!

Hi!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi again Scott,

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Our GEDCOM process is a bit different than what might be used to on other sites. We have some great help pages to make your experience go more smoothly:

If you have any questions about your GEDCOM or our process, you can contact our GEDCOM Manager for assistance.
