I was born into to the Ancient and Honorable Family of The Starr's of Ashford, Kent in the United Kingdom I am the 10th great grandson of Thomas Starr. I learned this by finding my Great Great Great GrandFather in the Starr Family History by Burgis Pratt Starr Available from Barnes and Noble website as a free download. Also from FamilyDNA that states my oldest known relative is Thomas Starre born in 1540 Died 1595 in the United Kingdom. I know that my family came across on Ship called the Hercules that left from Kent. Once established in New England Massachusetts and fighting with the Colonist against the King in the War of Independence they Spread South into Texas, you will find a county in the South named after Prominent Member of the community and a part of the founding of the Great State of Texas, James Harper Starr https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starr_County,_Texas Another very Prominent Member of the Starr family Dr. Comfort Starr is one of the founders of Havard University

West. I was the great great great grandson of Jared Starr a man that joined the LDS Church and was forced to flee for his life from Nauvoo IL when Governor Bogs signed an extermination order against the Mormons.

I was born in San Gabriel California in 1960 to David LeRoy Starr and Ellen Lee Strowbridge (Starr) They moved our family to Utah in 1963 or 64 I remember laying on the couch with tonsilitis watching T.V. and seeing the news that President Kennedy had been shot. I also remember days living in Orem Utah where I lived until 3rd grade when my family moved to Salem Utah. Salem was a little slice of Heaven on Earth when I look back on my childhood and the connections to my community even though we were new to the town, it was still my hometown. A small lake called Salem Pond where I learned to swim and fish and play There was a lot of young men that played everything from Hiding and seek to touch football we spent the summer living an Idealist child's life without a care in the world well after I got the chores I was supposed to do done. I loved it and love it even more now. I did what most of our young people did in our hometown I went to Salem Elementry school, At that time we didn't have a Middle School in town so we stayed in Salem until the 6th grade. We then had to take the bus to Spanish fork and attended Jr High and High School. It was an All American apple pie and fourth of July life and I treasure it dearly.

Within three days of graduating High School I was in Texas starting my career or so I thought with the United States Air Force. I completed Basic Training by Sept of 1978 and headed to my secondary training a Firefighter Crash Rescue Apprentice course. I was station at Edwards AFB and RAF Upper Heyford U.K. After that I took a Job as a Department of Army as a Firefighter over my career I worked for the Navy in San Diego the Air Force in Colorado and the Navy again in Fallon Nevada then to Alaska back to the Army at Ft. Greely and then to Fairchild AFB where I retired.

I haven't had a lot of luck in the family area I have been married and divorced a few times and have had no children. I now live in Spokane Valley Washington with a woman that I claim as my best friend we have a lot of different interest but we make it work and that is what counts. I have 5 sister living and my Dad and Brother have passed My mother is still here with us and lives in Salem Utah.

Hi David

Thank you for adding a GEDCOM. The GEDCOM does not automatically populate your tree it generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through either accepting or rejecting suggested matches, once that has been done, you add any remaining names manually.

The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.

Hi David

I'm responding to your post about your possible Magna Carta connections and WIkiTree's relationship finder, The trails returned by relationship finder are a good place to start with your research. Just keep in mind that the trails returned by the finder are based on the information that was entered by users of WIkiTree. You may run into errors or unproven relationships along the trail. Each parent-child relationship in the trail from you to the surety baron has to be properly sourced (with reliable sources) and validated. Don't be discouraged by this. Relationship finder does take a lot of the work out of finding potential connections. The work comes in proving (validating) those relationship trails. It can be a challenge to verify th e many relationships along the trail but it can be done if reliable sources can be found.

Hi David,

My mother’s maiden name is Crockett. Her Father was John Walter Crockett. My Grandfather was adopted into your Family. Long story short, the judge (J. Allan Crockett) has locked my grandfathers adoption records. My grandfather looks like the judge and my mothers dna links to Crockett’s. We have been searching for a very long time to find my grandfathers family only to come to a dead end every time beacuase of what the judge has done. My mother has become ill and we desperately would like to get information. I was wondering if I could get my mothers dna information and link it to yours. You are the only person (related to J. Allan Crockett) I have found that I can communicate with for everyone else doesn’t have any contact info. Thank you, Robyn Seamons Leeper

Hi David,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Based on your tags the Mayflower Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the list to review other possibilities. Read the goals and tasks of the projects and join those which are a good fit.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

David, follow up on that grandmother Crockett too. You may find some interesting details. My Crockett grandmother was in Missouri. Her grandparents named Maughan were Mormons who went to Utah.

Keep looking and searching. It's interesting!
