Biography
The son of Leon D. Starry (1882-1948) and Blanche Ardella Emerson (1884-1976), Marion Starry was born in Jackson Township, Iowa[1] in 1901, residing with his family in 1905 in Cass Township, Iowa.[2][3] By 1915, Marion and his family lived in Rome Township, Iowa.[4][5] His siblings included:

Marion married Anna Alvina (Kray) Starry, the daughter of Tjark Folken Kray and Johanna Margaretha Remmers, marrying in Langworthy Township, Iowa on January 22, 1922[6] and taking up residence together in Iowa Township, Iowa, where Marion drove a mail truck.[7] By 1940, Marion and his family lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Marion worked for the railroad as a baggage man.[8]
Marion registered for the World War II draft when he was 40, registering in Ann Arbor, Michigan on February 16, 1942.[9] He stated that he lived with his family on Hutchins Street in Ann Arbor and that he worked at the ticket office for the New York Central Railroad in Ann Arbor. Marion was described as 5'10" tall and 155 pounds with brown hair and eyes; he did not enlist and continued to live in Ann Arbor and to work at the railroad depot.[10]
Widowed in 1975, Marion married Meta Marie (Tapken) Kray, the daughter of John Frederick Tapken and Anna Helene Ortgies, who had been married previously to the brother of Marion's first wife, John Harm Kray. Marion Story retired from the railroad and returned to Iowa, passing away in Newton, Iowa[citation needed] at the age of 82.
