Thomas Earl Starzl was born in Le Mars, Iowa on March 11, 1926. He was the son of Roman Starzl and Anna Fitzgerald.
At the time of the 1940 U.S. Census, Roman F, Anna Laura, John F, Thomas E, Nancy Annie, and Margaret R Starzl were listed as living in Le Mars.
Thomas developed the procedure for liver transplants.
Thomas died at home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 4, 2017.
