Biography

Nancy (Staton) Smith was born in Appalachia, in Kentucky.

Nancy Jane Staton was born in May of 1862, in Pike County, Kentucky, to Louisa Varney and Avery Staton.[1][2]

On June 23, 1881, in Pike County, Nancy married Lindsey Smith.[3] This couple had at least 10 children.[4]

Nancy died of cerebral hemorrhage and arteriosclerosis on October 17, 1943, in Williamson, West Virginia. She is buried in Scott Cemetery, in Toler, Kentucky.[5]
