Maybe I'm reading between the lines here, but it looks like folks have decided against linking Andrew Moore Staton's mother, Ann, to the family of David Moore, so she seems to have been totally deleted from Wikitree...? There are multiple entries in the Amherst County, VA marriage register where she is listed as the mother of Andrew and his siblings. I assume this is how they were all determined to be siblings in the first place, so why is she not included here? Also, the personal property tax records around the time of Andrew's marriage to "Anny Prewitt" clearly show that when his father, Thomas Staton, disappeared after 1784, a woman named Ann Staton replaced him in the 1785 and subsequent lists, with roughly the same personal property, and surrounded by most (if not all) of Andrew's siblings linked here... I will happily compile all of these bits of proof to add Ann (back?) to Wikitree, unless someone has a good argument against it...?

checking the Changes, it seems that https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Mathews-933 was detached as his mother & the text of that profile notes that she was not named in Thomas Staton's will (not sure why that would lead to detaching her from Andrew though, although her profile says his will was dated 1796).

Cheers, Liz

P.S. No objection/argument against whatever you think best to do, just wanted to see if I could find the profile that had previously been attached as his mother.

Hi Liz,

Since my first comment, I have proven that Thomas Staton of Augusta & Amherst was not the son of Thomas Staton of Accomack. I will include and cite the records that prove this in my update, but I'm not sure if I should detach Staton-63 from Staton-64 or create a new Thomas Staton...? Staton-64 *did* have a son named Thomas, but he was not the father of Andrew Moore Staton or any of his siblings currently linked here...

Thanks, David

at a quick glance, and assuming that I understand what you're saying... yes, I think creating a new profile is a good idea, since it seems there are two Thomas Statons who get confused/conflated.

When "de-conflating" a profile, I usually try to figure out which person the history/comments apply to best & keep the profile as that person (another consideration is which is easier - detaching one profile or moving a bunch of profiles to a new father - but that's a one-time pain while the comments/history of a profile's evolution can be harder to find if left behind as someone else... hope that made sense; I'm working on half my usual coffee consumption at the moment :D).

Cheers, Liz

It appears that STATON-6 and STATON-211 are the same person. Also, STATON-6 is an Orphan profile. Can we get a merge on this one? Regards, Joyce ~~~~

Possible Anna and Amey are the same
