Biography

Konrad is the son of Emperor Friederich II of the Staufer dynasty and Isabelle de Brienne. He was born 26 Apr 1228 in Andria, Kingdom of Sicily.[1] When his mother died a few days after his birth he inherited the title of King of Jerusalem from her. There is no documentary evidence for an appointment as Duke of Swabia in 1235, documents issued by him in 1236 only use "Rex Jerosolimitanus, Gloriosi Romanorum Imperatorishis natus" as title.[2] In 1237 his father had him elected King of Germany (rex Romanorum)[3] but since he was never crowned he only used the title "Romanorum in regem electus".[4] In 1246 he married Elisabeth von Bayern, daughter of Otto II, Duke of Bavaria.[5] They had a son Konradin von Staufen in 1252. In 1251, the year after his father was deposed and died, he left Germany for Italy[6] and in December of that year arrived in Sicily.[7] He remained in Southern Italy until his death 20 May 1254 of a febrile illness in camp near Lavello.[8]

His mother was Yolande of Brienne, his wife Elisabeth Wittelsbach ( the second Elisabeth is clearly the same person). His known siblings are many more (legitmate and illegitimate) and can be found on Wikipedia.org "Frederic II Holy Roman Emperor" that agrees with other sources. Constance, Manfred and Violante were legitimated when their mother Bianca Lancia, after a relation with Frederic II that lasted 20 years. was married "in capitulo mortis". The church for political reasons did not recognise the marriage.

About Conradin Hohenstaufen a comprehensive biography can be found on Wikipedia.com. He was very popular in Italy when at yhe age of 15 tried to take the Kingdom of wich was the legitimate heir, but was captured and executed by the usurpator Charles I of Anjou, supported by Pope

Hohenstaufen-49 and Hohenstaufen-5 appear to represent the same person because: some data are the same, some are impossible
