Biography

John was born the 9th of October, 1868 in Keeloge, Portumna to John (a small farmer) and Winifred Staunton (formerly Coony).^[1]

John Staunton married Hannah Mahon on 16 February 1898 at the Roman Catholic Chapel of Meelick, in the Portumna Superintendent Registrar's District. He was 30 years old, a bachelor, a farmer (so born around 1868). She was 25, a spinster (so born around 1873). Both of their fathers were named John. ^[2]

In the 1911 census John (age 54), Blacksmith, was the married head of household in Cappaluane, Meelick, Galway, Ireland.^[3]

John's death on 6 May 1940 (age 85) was registered in the Portumna Superintendent Registrar's District.^[4]
