Ann was likely born in Yorkshire, England in the 1770s. She married He was baptized in Kirkby-Ravensworth in 1765. She married John Goundry in 1790 in Kirby Moorside, Yorkshire. She died in childbirth in 1795 in Hudswell, Yorkshire.
The marriage of Ann Stead to John Goundry is a working hypothesis based on the baptism of his daughter Ann in Hudswell in 1795, with her mother noted as Ann (Late Stead), taken to mean that she had died in childbirth. His daughter Ann later married Robert Mattison in Hudswell in 1822, and they later emigrated to America where they were known among John's Goundry relatives living there. Ann's first child was named John Stead Mattison, probably to honor her mother. Other evidence to support this hypothesis is very welcome!
