Biography

Abigail Jane Stearns was born October 2, 1825, in Wilmot, Merrimack county, New Hampshire, the daughter of Deacon Samuel Stearns and Mary J. (French) Stearns. ^[1]

On June 27, 1849, in Deerfield, New Hampshire, Abigail (aka Abby, Abbie) married Colonel Richard Jenness Sanborn, son of Benning Wentworth Sanborn and Polly (Jenness) Sanborn.

Children of Abigail and Richard are:

• Benning Wentworth Sanborn, born April 25, 1850, died June 14, 1850 ^[2]

• Joseph Woodbury Sanborn, born July 9, 1852, died June 3, 1917,

• Mary Jane Sanborn, born 1853, died October 21, 1853 ^{[3] [4]}

• Mary Abigail Sanborn, born February 8, 1855, died December 10, 1874, at the age of 19 years and 10 months.^[5]

Abigail Jane and Richard are buried in the Sanborn Family Cemetery, in Deerfield, Rockingham county, New Hampshire.^[6]
