Samuel Stearns was an officer in the Revolutionary War, serving as a Lieutenant in a company which marched Dec. 9, 1776, under command of 1st Lieut. Joseph Crafts to join Col. Crafts's regiment at Boston and as 1st Lieutenant in Capt. Abraham Peirce's 11th (Waltham) company, Col. Samuel Thatcher's (1st Middlesex Co.) regt. of Mass. militia. [1] [2]

Samuel Stearns [3] was born on November 14, 1739, [4] in Waltham, MIddlesex County, Massachusetts, [5] and baptized on November 18, 1739, [6] in Watertown, MIddlesex, Massachusetts. He was the son of Samuel Stearns and Sarah Bowman.

Samuel married Mary Bigelow on May 15, 1760, in Waltham. [7] [8]

They had 13 children:
