Biography

Based on the date of her first marriage, Elizabeth Stedman was probably born in Cambridge, Massachusetts Bay Colony, before 1644. She was the daughter of John Stedman and Alice (___).[1]

She married Nathaniel Upham in Cambridge on 5 March 1661/2.[2]

Elizabeth was born about 1642 (based on age at death) in Cambridge, Massachusetts Bay Colony to possibly John Stedman and Alice Noble.[3]

Elizabeth married Nathaniel Upham on 5 Marc 1662 in Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[4] Nathaniel passed away 15 days after they were married.[5]

Elizabeth married Henry Thompson on 27 April 1669 in Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[6]

Elizabeth married John Sharpe, merchant of Boston and Cambridge sometime around 1677. He died in 1694.

On 20 Jan 1693/4, Elizabeth Sharp, widow of John Sharp, one of the daughters of John Stedman late of Cambridge, made bond as Administratrix on his estate.[7]

Inventory of the estate of John Steadman was taken on 02 February 1693/4, and Elizabeth Sharp made oath to her father's inventory on 02 April 1694.[7]

Elizabeth died 9 March 1699/1700 at Cambridge "in her 59th year."[8] Her will names her daughter Dorothy Shove as sole beneficiary and executor.[9]

Research Notes

Incorrect death information: FindAGrave has confused Elizabeth (Stedman)(Upham)(Thompson) Sharpe with a different Elizabeth Thompson who died 20 February 1701 possibly in Solebury, Bucks, Pennsylvania.[10]

I also find it highly unlikely that she died in Pennsylvania.... as her Findagrave memorial suggests without providing a gravestone or reliable source. Probably the death should be removed.

Elizabeth left a will and there's a death record/gravestone inscription from Cambridge. I've updated the profile.

Do we have a reliable source for the middle name of "Rose?" It was highly uncommon to find a middle name in this era. Lacking a source in a primary record, I suggest it be removed when the merge is completed.

Thank you for catching this, after further research I’m not so sure that these parents need to be removed from Elizabeth Plumly per, Lucius R. Paige, History of Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1630-1877, with a genealogical register. He states the Elizabeth that was the daughter died very young. “ Henry, of Boston, a merchant, m. Elizabeth, wid. of Rev. Nathaniel Upham, and dau. of John Stedman, 27 Ap. 1669. They had, in Camb., Elizabeth, b. 29 Jan. 1669-70, d. young; and in Boston, Dorothy, b. 26 Oct. 1671, m. Samuel Shove 16 Nov. 1692, and Samuel Burr of Chs. 16 Dec. 1700, and d. 20 Feb. 1701-2; Henry, b. 23 Oct. 1673, d. in Camb. 17 Sept. 1690; Alice, b. 8 Sept. 1677, d. young. After Mr. Thompson's death his wid. m. John Sharp, also a merchant, whom she survived, and d. in Camb. 9 Mar. 1699-1700. See Stedman, John.”

Stedman-312 and Stedman-111 appear to represent the same person because: Same person
On the profile for Stedman-312, you provided a middle name of Rose. Is there a source for that? It's highly unusual to find a middle name in this era. Also, you show her death in Pennsylvania per Findagrave. There's no gravestone or source suggesting how she ended up there and it seems suspicious.
