Biography

(Steele-10938) George W Steele was the first child born to{Worley-3198} Susannah H Worley Steele and{Steele-10932} Samuel Sands Steele. He married( Schroch-2} Mary Elizabeth Schrock. He lived from 1838 to 1934 Obituary- GEORGE W. STEELE DIES AT AGE OF 96 AGED MAN WHO DIES AT TOCSIN HAD LIVED IN COUNTY 95 YEARS. George W. Steele, 96, died at 9 o'clock Tuesday evening at his home in Tocsin. He had been ill three months from senility. He was born to Samuel and Susan Worley Steele at Wooster, O., on March 27, 1838. His marriage to Mary E. Schroch was solemnized in Wells county on Jan. 2, 1873. She died on Dec. 7,1924. Mr. Steele had lived in Wells county 95 years. The deceased enlisted in the Civil war on Dec. 17, 1864, and honorably discharged on July 15, 1865. He was a member of Company C of the 48th Indiana Infantry. He is survived by one brother; Robert N. Steele, Convoy, O. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Tocsin U. B. church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in the Tocsin cemetery.
