Biography

Theresa was born at Eyres Flat in 1947. Her family resided in a number of places including Onkaparinga, Eyres Flat, Clarendon and Steelton [ named after her family as it was positioned on part of their land].

Theresa eloped with Michael [Mc]Gillick to Kapunda where they married at the Catholic Presbytery. They appear to live in the Steelton area for a couple of years with Michael being employed as a butcher. Unfortunately, about 1869, Michael appeared to owe his brothers, Bernard and Patrick, a large sum of money and was taken to court, charged and spent about 6 months in gaol. He was declared a bankrupt as a result.

About this time the family moved away from the area.

Michael and Theresa had seven children.

In 1881, James their son was killed in an unfortunate accident at Lancelot near Terowie and just twelve months later, Michael was also killed in almost the same place in the same way.
