KACHMAR
My mother's side (Kachmar/Corwonski) is from Ukraine/Poland. I'm going to get some of that family to help me out next time I'm in Philadelphia, but I'm having trouble tracing them back to the Ukraine, since the data on Ancestry seems pretty sparse, and the names are spelled so many different ways (Kachmar, Kachmarchik, Kaczmarczyk, Corwonski, Cerwinka). If anyone is familiar with those languages and the families that immigrated to Philly/NJ in the early 20th century want to team up, let me know!
KACZMARCZYK
Alternate spelling of my mom's family name (Kachmar, Kachmarchik).
POLAND
My mom's side call themselves Ukrainian, but Pop Pop used to send money back to Poland, and family members used them interchangeably in the Census, so I assume we were near the border?
STEELE
Looking to trace my father's side (Steele / Donnelly). My father's side has been in Philly for a lot of generations, and things get vague once I track them back to Ireland. James Watt, the inventor of the steam engine, might be my 7th grandfather? I'd love to talk to anyone tracing that line!
