His grandparents were Ann (Welles) and Capt. James Steele. His parents were Elizabeth (Hollister) and Dr. Joseph Steele (1690-1740). [1]

James Steele was born on 18 May 1719 in Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut

James Steele married about 1745 in Berlin, Hartford County, Connecticut to Mercy Cowles.

He passed away on 27 Jul 1775 in Hartford County, Connecticut and was buried at Kensington Ancient Burying Ground. [2]
