Biography
William was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, in 1881, the son of William and Emma Steele.
He was admitted to The Hospital Cottages for Children in Baldwinville, Massachusetts, in 1891, with admission records giving his age as 16, though he would have been only about 9 years old at that time.[1] He remained a patient for 10 years, until he was transferred on November 5, 1901, to the Massachusetts School for the Feeble-Minded.[2]
At the time of the 1910 census, he lived at the Templeton Colony of the School for the Feeble-Minded.[3] By 1920 he was at the main Waltham site of the instituion, where he remained for the rest of his life.[4][5] He died there in 1933.
