According to the History of Benjamin Patton Caldwell, he married first wife Mary Ann Powell on 2 March 1847, and she died 9 months later. He married second wife Martha Jane Craig on 14 Aug. 1849. They had 5 children. Martha Craig died 29 Sept. 1872.
On Nov 5th, 1874 he married third wife Martha Ellen (Steele) Koontz, who was the widow of Benjamin F. Koontz.
