Nelson H. Steely was born in Pennsylvania In October of 1866 to John Steely and Mary Haffa.
He married Alma O. Kinton on the 14th of Feb 1899 in in Dunkerton, Black Hawk, Iowa[1]
On[2] Tuesday evening at the Baptist parsonage at Dunkerton, Rev. F.E. Day officiating, occured the marriage of Mr. Nelson H. Steely and Miss Alma O. Kenton, both of Dunkerton. The young people will make Dunkerton their future home. |

He died on the 21st of September, 1942 in Huron, South Dakota and he would be buried in the Riverside Cemetery in Huron, Beadle County, South Dakota[10]
Mr. and Mrs. John Steely, 104 Graceline boulevard, have returned to their home from Huron, S.D., where they attended the funeral of his brother, Nelson H. Steely[11], 76, who died there Sept. 21. Burial was at Huron. Member of an early-day Black Hawk county family, Steely came here when he was 3 years old with his parents from Pennsylvania, where he was born in October 1866. The family settled here in Bennington township. Nelson married Alma Kinton in 1898 in Dunkerton, Ia., and about 35 years ago they moved to South Dakota, where they made their home thereafter. They had lived at Huron about 12 years. Surviving besides the widow are two sons, John, Huron, and Guy, Sioux Falls, S.D.; a daughter, Mrs. Earl Hoyt, Huron; five brothers, Harry H. Steely, 1203 Independence avenue; E.M., 825 Euclid avenue; John, 194 Graceline boulevard; Joel W., 201 Franklin Street, and D.O., Doland, S.D., and a sister, Mrs. Cora Paul, 549 Sunset road. There are also four grandchildren. |
