AGNES HATHORN'S WILL (was written on the same day as her death, January 21, 1772.)[1]

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN of the County of Lancaster and Township of Strasburg being weak in Body but of Sound memory (Blessed be God) do this day being the Twenty first day of January In the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Seventy Two make and Publish this my last Will & Testament in the Manner following that is to say I Recommend my Lord unto God who give it and my Body to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian & decent Manner at the discretion of my Children Douting Nothing but I Shall Receive the Same at the Resurrection Again Also I give and bequeath unto Samuel my Eldest Son Two Yards of Flanen & Three yards & a half of Elevin Hundred Linen & mixt Gray Cloth for a Jacket Also I give and bequeath unto his Eldest Daughter Agness the feather bed I lay on and Boulster & fine Sheet & one New Singel Blanket the Newest Coverlid a diper Table Cloth five Dishes and Twelve Plates of Pewter Also I give and bequeath unto my son James my Horse & a feather Bed Boulster & pillows A pair of half worn Blankets red & whit overlId and Sheet Also Six yards & a half of Eleven hundred Linen the big Pot and mixt Gray Cloth for a Jacket Also I give and bequeath unto my Two Daughters Margret & Agness all my Goods and Money as yet Remaining to be Equally Devided Betwixt them after paying all my Debts & Funeral Charges & Eight Pounds for puting up *four Grave Stons

John Noble & William Scott executors and appoint to Samuel & mine & Twenty shillings ____pence & _____pound them put up the Stones. In Witness whereof I the said Agness Hathom have to this my Last Will and Testament Set my hand and Seal the day and Year above written Signed Sealed & delivered by the said Agnes Hathorn as and for her Last Will and Testament in the presence of us Robert Stewart, Samuel Hathorn

Before me the Subscriber Personally Appeared the Above Named Robert Stuart one of the Subscribing Witnesses to the Above & within Will and on his Solemn Affirmation did declare & Say that he was present and Saw & heard Agness Hathorn the Testatrix within Named Sign Seal Publish pronounce & declare the Above & within Will as & for her Last Will & Testament & that at the doing thereof She was of Sound mind Memory and Understanding to the best of their knowledge Observation & Belief Edw Shippen Dep'y Reg'r

Be it remembered that on the Fourteenth day of February Anno Domini 1772

The last Will and Testament of Agnes Hathorn late of Strasburg Township in the County of Lancaster deceased was proved in due form of Law & Letters Testamentary were granted to John Noble & William Scott the Executors therein Named they being first duly Qualified well & truly to Administer the Estate of the Testatrix and to exhibit a true and perfect Inventory thereof into the Registers Office at Lancaster on or before the Fourteenth day of March next & to render a true and Just Account of their Administration when thereto lawfully required Given under the Seal of the said Office
