Caroline A. Steeves was born on October 10, 1837 in either Moncton or Hillsborough, New Brunswick. Her parents were Christian Steeves and Christianna Jones. She married William Sharp Colpitts in Hillsborough about 1861, and the couple appear as farmers in Elgin, Albert, New Brunswick in the census of that year. She and William lived in Elgin from 1861 to at least 1901. By 1911 she was a widow living in Elgin with her daughter Minnie and son-in-law Manning Joseph Collicutt, and by 1921 she was living with the same couple in Brookfield, Colchester, Nova Scotia. She passed away in Westmorland County, New Brunswick on December 27, 1922.

Steeves-556 and Steeves-336 appear to represent the same person because: same parents, same sibs. Steeves-556 is quite complete and shows Caroline's husband as Colpitts. Steeves-336 has only one source. When following that source, which is an online family site, we see that it is not a case of one child passing away and another being given the same name. This family site gives the same Colpitts husband. So really there is no evidence for multiple Carolines in this family.
