Antoine Steiger, born c. 1706 in Riegel, in the German duchy of Baden, was not a part of the German migration of 1720-1721. The progenitor Antoine Francois (Anton Franz) Steiger, son of Pierre Steiger or Stayer and Anne Marie Kolter, was a soldier in the company of the Swiss regiment of Karrer, and arrived in Louisiana in the late 1730s or early 1740s.[1]
He married Anne Marie Schaaf on 21 July 1743 in St Charles Borromeo Church in "des Allemands," Louisiana[2][3]

Robichaux found documentation in Louisiana that Antoine Francois was a native of Riegel, in the German duchy of Baden, diocese of Constance. Robichaux found the baptism record of Antonius Staigert in the registers of Riegel, Baden Germany, Catholic Church, FHL Microfilm No. 0996877, p. 90. A scan of the record is included.
