Exercise 1493: Claus STENGER pays its due to the glassware of Biersbach... "It..von Claus Stenger von der Glashütte empfange zu Birschpach ..... yth yys "
Research of this glass has led to a lot of contacts. The one with the Society for the History of Archeology of Alsace Bossue has borne fruit. Dr Luc Stenger's opinion of research has been published in their bulletin and Mr. BRODT, archaeologist, contacted Luc transmitting his publication on the glassworks around VOLKSBERG. He has also introduced him to Mr. SARTER who wanted to show him a land "interesting" since several years. This land had the remains of ancient glass works associated with the Stenger family.
Note there are other Stengers listed during this century but it is unclear how or if they are connected. Moe work is being done on this family trying to clarify the connections. There are other possibilities than the line that starts here with Clauss. For example, 1535 ist year einer Stelle,Mittelbach (Lage dieses dem Ortes Autor unbekannt) genannt, eine Glashütte als erloschen gemeldet Worden, in der Stenger Franz gearbeitet hat. Frantz STENGER is given by several sources as having worked to the glassware of Mittelbach which is given off in 1535, (Possibly before this date) Frantz STENGER would then be a contemporary of Claus STENGER Frantz could be the father of Hans Stenger (without attachment), a contemporary of Lorentz Stenger, son of Claus STENGER The sources are not documented
Mittelbach is known today: it is in fact a creek that is located not very far from Diemeringen at the southern edge of the SCHEIDTWALD Frantz Stenger (Generation 17) can not be the latter because he is born 1525 We are certainly in the presence of a Frantz contemporary STENGER at minimum of Lorentz Stenger (Generation 19) or even of his father Clauss Stenger (Generation 20).
Enough information is not clear enough to enter these other Stengers at this time. This line worked on by the PM who entered the data (Laura Bozzay) with Dr Luc Stenger and his European contacts is we believe the most provable of the possibilities.
STENGER Clauss Mentionné comme déjà décédé dans les comptes seigneuriaux de Diemeringen pour 1505 et 1506.
Mentionné dans les comptes seigneuriaux de Diemeringen pour 1493.
