Sidney Stephen was an Australian lawyer and a judge in New Zealand. At the time of his death, he was Acting Chief Justice of New Zealand.
He was the eldest son of John Stephen, judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, and his wife Mary Anne Pasmore.
He married Margaret Adlam, the daughter of a merchant from St Kitts, in the West Indies. They had seven children.
He died at Auckland, New Zealand, on 13 January 1858, and was interred in Symonds Street Cemetery.[1]
