The son of Joseph Stephens and Rhoda (Cole) Stephens, William Stephens was likely born in Virginia around 1791.[citation needed] He married Rowena Devers (1795-1851), the daughter of John Devers and Winifred Peyton, marrying in Casey County, Kentucky on March 19, 1809.[1] He passed away around the age of 43, likely in Arkansas, but details of his death and burial are not known.[2]
