Biography

We know little about our William Stephens as he is our dead end. I have researched but refused to put data that I'm unsure of. He married Margaret Anderson and I believe that was in Angelina Co, TX but haven't had much success in this research.

My grandmother was deceased when I started researching and my old uncle did not recall anything about him. All I know is William Stephens came to Texas with a doctor, his parents' where abouts or even if alive unknown. I believe that the people remember stories that at combined as he did live with Dr Gann who was hung when home from a Union leave, even though Angelina was a Union County, many people were not Union. Dr Gann left his home to go somewhere and when he didn't return, was found hanging from a tree.

My own grandmother mentioned her grandfather or most likely great grandfather was given to a doctor and came west due to family illness or something. They camped in LA when a runaway slave approached and they fed him. The owners caught them with the slave and hung both the men leaving the boy child unharmed. How he got to Texas??? Or was that doctor, Dr Gann and their stories were mixed. He was listed in the library in Dr Gann's household when I first started researching and is in my hard copy somewhere. I've got lots of papers.

I don't even know for sure which state though Alabama or Georgia could be it. [1]
