Stephens-6433 and Stephens-1429 appear to represent the same person because: I recommend merging Stephens-6433 and Stephens-1429 because they have many of the same children. Stephens-1429 is more complete and includes more sources.

I have relisted Thomas's birthdate as uncertain. The 1750 birthdate does not line up with the births of his older children in the 1770's. I will leave the 1745 birth year for now, even though it is more out of line.

I also have this additional biographical information partially family lore. "Revolutionary War: Thomas served in the Revolutionary War from Caswell Co., NC, but was in Pittsylvania County, VA. in 1785, when a lawsuit by George F. Adams and Thomas Stevens was heard. There is a record of a Thomas Stephens in P. T. Bowmans Company, 1st NC Regiment, he is listed as enrolling 1777 and deserting in Aug. of 1777. In 1790 we find Thomas in Pendleton District, SC along with brothers David, Benjamin and Meshack. On Jan. 17, 1817 Thomas Stephens bought 92 acres of land from John McIver in the county of Overton, Tennessee on Cove Creek. In this deed Thomas Stephens made an assignment from himself to Zorababel Stephens, which was his son. This was in what would later be Fentress County, Tennessee.

It looks like his middle name could have been spelled a few ways: Granger, Grangier, Granser, Gransier
