Biography

John Stephens was born on 22 September 1825 in Montgomery County, Virginia, the older of two known children, both sons of Henry and Mary Ann Charlton Stephens.[1]
On 10 March 1847, when he was twenty-one, he married Margaret Evans. She bore him five known children, three sons and two daughters:
  1. Charles Stephens
  2. David Stephens
  3. Cynthia Stephens
  4. Mary Stephens
  5. John Henry Stephens.
On 12 May 1893, when he was sixty-seven, John died of unknown causes in Montgomery County.[2]
