Biography

James Esbin Stephenson (son of James A. Stephenson and Sarah Malvinie Smith) was born June 15, 1890 in Barneston, Gage County, Nebraska and died February 8, 1968 at St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri. He married (1) Lillian Claire Oliver on March 20, 1907 in Pawnee City, Pawnee County, Nebraska. She was a school teacher. He married (2) Letitia Campbell about 1917. He was a barber and operated Jim’s barber shop in St. Joseph, Missouri. Letitia worked as a dietician at the Methodist Hospital. He was a member of the Christian Church. Letitia died in March of 1983 in Stone County, Missouri. He and Letitia are buried at St. Joseph Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri.
