He married (1) Mary Catherine Whitson in 1835. [3]
His first wife Catherine died in 1841.
Looks like their only daughter was Mary, born in 1841. It is confusing though because she gives her birth year as 1848 and 1850 on 1900 and 1920 census records. It may be that the wrong Mary C Stephenson has been linked on those census records. Find a grave and other document says she never married and those 2 census records have her as spouse of Millard Fillmore Whitson. [4]
