Biography

George Francis Stephenson, son of Calvin Stephenson Jr and Lucy M Benton, was born 27 Jun 1828 in Phelps, Ontario, NY.

On 1 Apr 1837 his mother was the Patentee for 40 Cres of land in Nankin, Wayne, MI. The family was living there by 15 Jul 1840, per census records.

On 16 Sep 1847 in Nankin, Wayne, Michigan he married Lydia Jane "Lizzey" Baker, daughter of Amasa Baker and Elizabeth "Betsey" Reynolds. She was born in either Sodus or Arcadia, NY on 28 April 1828. Her family was in Sodus in 1820 and in Arcadia by 1830.

They were living in Eaton, Michigan when their daughter Ellen L "Ella" was born 13 Oct 1852. Ida was born in Eaton, MI on 18 Apr 1855 and Lucy Elizabeth on July 1856 in Walton Township, Eaton, MI.

They were either living or visiting in Mattawan, Van Buren, MI when Eva Mandana was born on 9 June 1860.

On 1 Aug 1870 in Antwerp Township, Van Buren, MI he was listed with wife and 4 daughters and his job was farm labor.
