Gladys Ruby Sternbeck was born on 29 May 1912 in Wollombi, New South Wales, Australia as the seventh child of Christian George Sternbeck and Emily Louisa May Goldsmith. She had ten siblings, namely: Percy James, Clara Madge, Cecil Harris, Henry John, Lawrence Roy, Elizabeth Maria, Leslie Albert, Elsie May, Emily Louisa, and Doris Jean. She died in 1988 in Wyong, New South Wales, Australia. When she was 19, she married Alfred George Greentree,son of Saul Greentree and Alice Emily Green, on 14 Nov 1931 in Wollombi, New South Wales, Australia.
