DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Johann by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Johann:
Thanks Jaki - I quickly added some info and haven't had time to get back to add more...but eventually I will. My focus is descendants of Levi Sternberg (1814-1896) - he, his wife, and his kids were pretty amazing people. Yes, the Johann name - they must have gone by the middle name since they frequently used Johann for a first name for almost all males for a season of time. Thanks for the invite to the FB page.
Hello! I also have Sternberg ancestors that I have a fair bit of info about. I am in the process of entering what I have into wikitree. I think we share a gggg-grandfather, Adam Johann Sternberg (b. circa 1700.) I am a little confused by all the Johanns and Adams, and others, but I think we must be 5th cousins - or somewhere thereabouts! There are zillions of Sternbergh descendants. My (1st) cousin, Dexter Sternbergh, has a Facebook page called "Sternberghs of the World Unite." You're most welcome to join.
