Birth

Lucy Clapp Stetson was born in May 1837 at Scituate Massachusetts [1][2] (or Weymouth, Massachusetts) . She is the 2nd child and daughter of Peleg Stetson and Rachael Pratt. [1] (or Rachel Thayer [3])

A. Name is spelled Wrightington by Stetson Kindred [4] and the Scituate records, [5] but is recorded as Writhington by FamilySearch.org [27]. Both of these derivative sources spell the children's surnames as Wrightington. Some birth records have Wrighington, Whittington or Wrightenton, and at times the leading "W" in the name is also missing, recording the surname as "Rithington." In these records, the parents are recorded as Judah W... and Lucy Stetson-- rsl; Apr 2022.
B. Sarah is recorded in the Merrick Genealogy [4] as Lucy Ann #2 born 8 Jul 1858; died pre 1868. Sarah's death date is not recorded by Merrick. There is a good possibility that there were actually 3 Lucy Ann Wrightingtons born to Judah and Lucy, with the first dying as an infant in 1857, [28]the second also named Lucy Ann, [29] who would have died before 1868 when the third child named Lucy Ann was born. Only the birth records for the first two Lucy's match the years in the Scituate records.
