Birth

Waterman was born in 1807 at Nobleboro, Maine. He was the 7th child and son of Abner Stetson and Susanna Day ^[1].

Marriage

Married Ann McDonald on 23 Jan 1833 ^[2].

7 Children (all born in Nobleboro, Maine except where noted ^[2].)

1. Randall Stetson, b. 16 Dec 1833; d. 1849* "sliding on the ice" ^[2].
2. Ellen (Stetson) Gammans, b. 9 May 1835.
3. William Henry Stetson, b. 21 Aug, 1839 at Damariscotta, Maine. Died in service in the Civil War, 16 Jun 1863* buried in Memphis, Tennessee ^[2].
4. Sarah Ann (Stetson) Brown, b14 May 1843; m. James Brown, 26 Nov 1874; d. Jul 1886 in Bath, Maine ^[2].
5. Charles Waterman Stetson, 14 May 1845;
6. Mary Eliza Stetson, b. 20 Sep 1847; d. 28 Dec 1873*.
7. Oswald Stetson, b. 21 Sep 1850 at Damariscotta. ^[2].

Occupation

"Block maker" and contracted to furnish "blocks" "dead eyes" etc., for vessels built in New Castle, Damariscotta and else where ^[2].

Death

Died in July of 1867 and is buried with his wife and 3 of his children (* above) ^[A] at Saint Patricks Catholic Cemetery, Damariscotta Mills, Lincoln County, Maine, USA ^[3]

A. Waterman Stetson's wife was from Ireland (Belfast), so it is possible he became a Roman Catholic to marry her. His gravestone says he was 59 years old, which works back to 1808, the year of his birth and there is an Ann McDonal Stetson ^[4] buried in the same cemetery, along with several other Stetsons..
