Canal Builder - Reuben and his brother Robert Stetson successfully built a large canal for the Canadian government, but later in enlarging the canal for vessels, they were unsuccessful and were financially ruined - O.F. Stetson [5]. He eventually became a farmer.
He passed away in June 1881 [5]. He s buried in the Norton Cemetery, Keene, New York. [8]

B. After the death of his first and second wives, he married, a 3rd, (Alma Beede) a school teacher who boarded with them. She said she married him, altho very much older, because he was so kind to his invalid wife. -- O.F. Stetson [5].
