Birth

Samuel Stetson was born about 1817 at Madison County, New York ^[1]. He was 7th (or 6th) the son of Samuel Stetson and Huldah Unknown. ^[2]

Marriage

Married Almira Maxson of Little Genesee, NY prior to 1838 ^[3] 3 children:

1. Mary Ann (Stetson) Parkman b. 1836; m. Parkman; d. 1935
2. Antoinette (Stetson) Sherman b. 1839; d. 1933
3. Huldah Ophelia (Stetson) Foster b. 1841; d. 1934

Apparently separated and divorced from Almira after 1841 and prior to 1848, when she remarried Francis W. Prindle of Genesee. The 3 children were living with Francis and their mother, and were listed in the 1855 Census of Genesee, New York. ^[4]

Military Service

Unknown rank but was a Veterinarian, considered an excellent judge of horses, and purchased large numbers for the government during the Civil War. ^[3]

Died in Nov 1865. single, age 48, of consumption, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, ^[1] contracted while in the service. Died at brother Benajah's house aged 48 years ^[3] and is buried at Lawnview Cemetery, Rockledge, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA ^[6]
