Elijah "Trader" Stetson Jr. was born in Jun 1717 at Scituate, Massachusetts, 4th child and son (2nd so named) ^[A] of Elijah Stetson and Ruth (Chittenden) Stetson,

He was Baptized 7 Apr 1723 (2nd Church of Scituate ^[1]) ^[2]

Was called "Trader," "Blacksmith of Scituate," "of the Elbows," "of Kingston, so called above the Elbows" (in Springfield), and Elijah Stutson, Jr. of Brimfield" in 1741 ^[6]

1740 - 1761 - From land records of Hampden, Hampshire and Worcester Counties, Elijah Stetson (or Stutson) bought and sold many large tracts and estates in Connecticut and Massachusetts ^[6]

Death

"Died from fall from horse" in Apr 1779, at age 72.^[7][3]
