Biography

Abraham born 1714 the son of Nathaniel Stevens and Abigail Barnum.

He was married about 1732 to Phoebe Benedict, and they had 3 children.

His inventory was completed on 19 August 1746 in Danbury.[1]

In 1746, the probate court appoint James Benedict to be the guardian of his eldest son, Abraham, Benjamin Hoyt was appointed the guardian of his son Comfort, and Phebe Stevens jointly with her father, James Benedict was appointed guardian of his daughter, Abigail.[2]

In 1757, his estate distribution was ordered to be distributed to his widow, Phebe Castle, now wife of Peter Castle in Danbury, Abraham Stevens (eldest son), Abigail, wife of Nathan Dibble, and Comfort Stevens.[3]

Research Notes

  • At the time of his death, his wife Phebe was appointed guardianship of his daughter Abigail. It is not likely the second marriage noted is to this Abraham Barnum.
