Death Claims Mrs. Mabel Barker
Mrs. Mabel Stevens Barker, widow of the late Milton Taylor Barker, died at her home, 633 West Green Street early Sunday morning. Death followed an extended illness. For the past three weeks her condition has been critical.
Born in Lynchburg, Va, November 16, 1871, she was a daughter of James W. and Jennie Bell Williams Stevens. She was married to Mr. Barker of this city and had resided here for over 50 years. Mr. Barker died November 4, 1937.
She was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. A.L. Long of Richmond, Va and Miss Lula Barker of this city. Six sons Milton T, James W. and Allen Barker all of this city, David P. Barker of Richmond, Va, Robert S. Barker of Atlanta and Donald W. Barker of Norfolk, Va, two brothers, Robert S. and James W. Stevens of Lynchburg, Va and six grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held from the home 633 West green Street at four PM Tuesday . Burial will follow in the family plot, Oakwood Cemetery.
