Dies At 79, 11 Children All Living
Wm. T. Stephens, 7 miles east of the city, died this morning after being ill about ten days, surrounded by his family, aged 79. One of the best known residents of the east side of the county. Mr. Stephens was of the old style people who believed in big families, which for him included 11 children, all of whom are living, and with the wife mourn the death. He was a life long member of the
Friendship Baptist church, born in the county and for 60 years had lived where he died. The children are Joseph M. at Cumberland, Ia., A.E. at New Albany, Wm. B., John L., Lewis, James, Mrs. Patrick Findley, Mrs. James Richardson, Mrs. Samuel H. Stevens, Richard and Beda. The brothers are Alex at Columbus, O.; Lewis at Red Oak, Ia.; Emley Robinson at Crawfordsville; Mrs. Wilson at Brazil; Kate Brummett, Cecelia Brock, Eliza Young of Unionville.
The funeral at 10 o'clock Sunday in charge of Rev. Monroe Swindler and Rev. Aley at Brummetts Creek.
