Arthur Charles Stevens was born about 1873 at Beechworth, Colony of Victoria, Australia. He was the son of Joseph Stevens and Mary Beregan[1].
On 22 September 1903, Arthur's mother, Mary Anne Stevens, died at his residence.[2]
In 1909 Arthur Charles Stevens married Mary Agnes Hourigan in Victoria, Australia[3].
In 1916 the licence of the Red Lion Hotel Tarrawingee was transferred to Arthur Charles Stevens.
"Licenses Transferred -At the Beechworth Licensing Court on Thursday, Mr Pennefather, L.M., granted transfers of licenses of the Red Lion Hotel, Tarrawingee, from Agnes Kiely to Arthur Charles Steven."[4]
Arthur farmed at Tarrawingee, at least until 1943[5].
On 11 August 1949, a newspaper advertisement gives Arthur Charles Stevens, formerly of Tarrawingee, address as 405 Melbourne Road, Frankston[6].
Arthur Charles Stevens died on 3 July 1951[7], at Frankston, Victoria, Australia. Arthur was buried at the Wangaratta Cemetery on 5 July 1951[8].
Arthur's will and probate documents are found at the Public Records Office Victoria.[9]. The following notice was published
"Arthur Charles Stevens, formerly of Tarrawingee, but late of 405 Melbourne-road, Frankston, Gentleman, deceased. — After fourteen clear days George Andrew Connor, of Londrigan,farmer, one of the executors appointed by deceased's WILL, dated the ninth day of October, 1950, will APPLY to the Supreme Court of Victoria for a GRANT of PROBATE of the said will, leave being reserved to Joseph Henry Connor, of Londrigan aforesaid, farmer, the other executor appointed by the said will, to come in and prove the same at any time. DANIEL J. CONNELL & McKENNA, of Reid-street, Wangaratta. Solicitors for the applicant."[10]

It seems Arthur Charles was born Charles Arthur but reversed this order throughout his life being known as Arthur Charles.
