Essie was born in 1899. She passed away in 1952.

Research Notes

According to her Aunt Luella May (nee Newlan) Stevens' obituary, Essie was raised by Luella. Luella is Newlan-23, parents John Robert and Frances R (Unknown) Newlan

On marriage record to Andrews, her parents were listed as Dan Franklin and Minnie Newlan, not sure if they married. Since Essie is at one time recorded as Newlan-Camper, it is possible that her father was Dan Boone Camper. In some unsourced family histories, her mother is listed as Marie (Minnie) Newlan b 1882 d 1899.

Last name at birth is uncertain.

Wow, this lady seems to have a different last name at every census, and is sometimes listed as niece, but more often listed as daughter of Stephens.. And, the last record is back to McMeen, a 3rd marriage that isn't in the obits or FGs (added a 2nd FG on McMeen-49.) I also don't know how to sort this one out, but your proposal to merge to this profile seems reasonable at this time?

McMeen-49 and Stevens-23147 appear to represent the same person because: Similar birthdates and death dates. Both married Olaf Ruhl.

Essie was raised by her aunt, Luella May (Newlan) Stevens. Her parents were listed as Dan Franklin and Minnie Newlan, not sure if they married. So not sure about Essie's last name at birth.
