Was at one time a tankerman for an oil company and also worked in the creosote factory in Slidell, LA which likely contributed to his death by emphysema. Possibly born in Slidell or Folsom, Louisiana, United States.
My copy (Scarlett Stevens) was given by my mother Sharon Stevens to my father Jack E. Stevens at Christmas 1982. On 27 Aug 2005, my father attempted to give me the copy to which I replied, "I'll get it when you're gone. " Two days later, 29 Aug 2005, hurricane Katrina wiped out everything my father, living in Slidell, LA had. It wasn't until I was living in my father's FEMA trailer in 2014 that I discovered the book, binding almost gone, pages yellowed and a mildew stain on the back cover. Inside the back cover in his beautiful handwriting, my father wrote out his mother's family including her parents and 14 siblings and as many as he could remember of their children. I looked up as many as I could online and filled in dates and places of burial. It is a beloved tangible legacy.
