The news of the death of my former neighbor and friend, Mrs. Alice Hawley, affected me as such things do not often. A good women is hard to praise, and such as Mrs. Alice Hawley God makes but seldom and then does his best. My sympathy, old man, for yourself and family, is as wide as the Pacific and much warmer.
