George was born 2 Nov 1788. He passed away 8 Dec 1858 and was buried in his family cemetery on Stever Lane in Elkland, Webster County, Missouri. He was married to Sarah Peyton 22 Dec 1815 in Madison County, Kentucky and had several children, Nicholas Smith Stever, George Washington Stever, Elizabeth Stever Brownfield, Sarah A. Stever, Polly Stever, Rachel Pitts, Margaret Stever, Martha Stever, James Madison Stever, Peter C Stever, Michael Lewis Stever.
He moved from Terra Haute, Indiana, to Illinoise, and settled in Elkland where he built a small home behind and to the east of the Stever Cemetery today.
He died from a gun shot wound from the Guerrilla's on his property. (Information given to me by the family that adjoines the Stever property in 2019, a historical Ranger at the Wilson Creek Civil war museum in Repubic, MO )
